I open my daily planner each weekend in anticipation of the upcoming week. I enjoy planning and making endless lists with the best of intentions, though not always completing every task.
God also has a daily planner for our lives.
“You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.”
Psalm 139:16 (NLT)
How’s that for planning ahead? He not only planned, but also recorded every moment of our lives in His book, before we were born. God isn’t making it up as we go.
No matter how intelligent we may be, God’s plans are better than ours. Jeremiah’s prayer says it this way:
“O Lord [pleads Jeremiah in the name of the people], I know that [the determination of] the way of a man is not in himself; it is not in man [even in a strong man or in a man at his best] to direct his [own] steps.”
Jeremiah 10:23 (AMPC)
We make our plans, but God has the ultimate plan and leads us one step at a time. He doesn’t give us more direction than we can handle.
If we become frustrated, we may be trying to figure out what to do instead of seeking the Lord and allowing Him to lead us. Many times we want to know the future instead of focusing on today’s decisions. Long term goal planning is good, but when it all boils down, today’s small decisions lead us to the final goal.
“The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.”
Psalm 37:23 (NLT)
As we follow the Ultimate Planner today, we’ll find ourselves in God’s perfect plan tomorrow.
