“I, yes, I alone am he who blots away your sins for my own sake and will never think of them again.” Isaiah 43:25 (TLB)
Is there any better news than this? God takes His giant blotter and blots away our sins. Today, we’re not as familiar with blotting, so maybe we can say He takes His giant eraser and erases away our sins. Better yet, He hits His giant delete button and poof! They are gone forever.
Sometimes I write words, decide they aren’t worth reading, and quickly delete them. I also have accidentally deleted words I wanted to keep.
But God makes no mistakes when He hits His delete button. The mistakes are ours, yet He chooses to remove them.
“For My own sake,” He says. He does it for Himself as much as for us. He wants a relationship with us, and our sins will get in the way; so, He does what only He can do. Blots. Erases. Deletes.
Then He goes one step further; He “will never think of them again.” Though He has a perfect mind with complete recall, He chooses to forget.
“Once again you will have compassion on us. You will trample our sins under your feet and throw them in the depths of the ocean!” Micah 7:19 (NLT)
Just in case blotting isn’t enough, God throws our sins in the depths of the ocean. Try finding them there.
“He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.” Psalm 103:12 (NLT)
East and west never meet. Once God has removed our sins, He intends for them to be left in the past, so they no longer are part of our lives.
We may find it difficult to forget wrong things we’ve done, but we can be assured God is not reminding us. He has forgotten.
God forgives. God forgets. Simple as that.
