“You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead?
Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not!
So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.“ Matthew 7:9-11 (NLT)
God is our Father, and He is a good Father. In fact, He is a better Father than any human father could dream of being.
When a person dies, sometimes people say, “God took him to heaven. He needed him more than we did.” Did God selfishly take him from his family? I don’t believe so.
When a pregnant woman has a miscarriage, I have heard people say, “God took her baby. He knows best.” Would God abort a baby and take a child from devastated parents? That doesn’t sound like a good Father to me.
God doesn’t put sickness on people and kill them. Some things God gets blamed for would be the same things a person could go to jail for.
Matthew 7:11 lets us know God is only good to us; even better than we are to our children. A good parent wants to see his children healthy, happy and well cared for; so why would we blame God for the bad things in our lives?
God certainly receives Christians and babies into heaven; but He doesn’t give sickness or cause accidents to get them there. He wants us to live a long life, accomplishing everything He has planned for us here and then move us to heaven when we are old. In fact, the Bible promises long life to those who trust Him.
“With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation.” Psalm 91:16 (NKJV)
Everything that occurs in life is not God’s perfect plan, or something He chose. He gave man a free will in the beginning, and He’s never taken it back.
Even insurance companies call natural disasters, “acts of God.” It seems God is the One to blame if we don’t know why something takes place, but He is the One Who blesses us with all good things.
If something is stolen or destroyed, or someone dies, the Bible makes it clear who should be blamed.
“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).” John 10:10 (AMP)
I don’t pretend to understand why every negative thing happens in life; but one thing is certain, I’m sticking with God. He is not the One to blame.
