“I, yes, I alone am he who blots away your sins for my own sake and will never think of them again.”
Isaiah 43:25 (TLB)
Is there any better news than this? God takes His giant blotter and blots away our sins. Today, we’re not as familiar with blotting, so maybe we should say He takes His giant eraser and erases away our sins. Better yet, He hits His giant delete button and they are gone forever.
I have written words, decided they weren’t worth reading, and quickly deleted them. I have also accidentally deleted words I wanted to keep.
But God makes no mistakes when He hits His delete button. The mistakes are ours, yet He chooses to remove them.
“For My own sake,” He says. He does it for Himself as much as for us. He wants a relationship with us and our sins will get in the way; so He does what only He can do. Blots. Erases. Deletes.
Then He goes one step further; He “will never think of them again.” Though He has a perfect memory, He chooses to forget.
We may find it difficult to forget wrong things we’ve done, but we can be assured God is not reminding us. He has forgotten.
God forgives. God forgets. Simple as that.
