My dog, Sol, was wandering around the backyard. I was waiting for him to come inside, and frankly, I was tired of waiting.
Here Sol, I sweetly called.
Then I whistled.
I begged.
I called more loudly.
My patience was gone.
My tactics were not working, so I firmly said, “Sol, come inside.”
He looked at me as if to say, “Oh, hi Mom. You talking to me? Here I come!”
Sol had ignored me until I became firm, commanding his attention.
That’s how we can be in our spiritual lives. When sickness comes along, or a problem of any kind, our first response is very important. We can beg, whine a while, complain, and even get mad; but none of these things make a positive difference.
We must become firm and commanding.
“Jesus called his twelve disciples together and gave them authority to cast out evil spirits and to heal every kind of disease and illness.”
Matthew 10:1 (NLT)
“Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you.
Luke 10:19 (NLT)
“Have faith in God, “Jesus answered. I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.”
Mark 11:22, 23
Jesus has given us authority. We’ve been empowered to do something about the problems in life. There is no need to beg, whine, plead, or complain. We can be firm and commanding to get the job done.
