We can begin and end each day with forgiveness, forgiving everyone, including ourselves.
Each day brings opportunities to forgive. Others may do or say something to us that is hurtful. We can hold grudges, or we can forgive and let it go.
It doesn’t take long to think of my failures or mistakes. I can beat myself up over them or I can choose to make things right, forgive myself and move on.
“And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him and let it drop (leave it, let it go), in order that your Father Who is in heaven may also forgive you your [own] failings and shortcomings and let them drop.”
Mark 11:25 (AMPC)
Forgive, let it drop, leave it, let it go.
There is nothing more freeing than forgiveness. The chains of un-forgiveness put us in prison. Yet it is a prison we put ourselves into, so we can let ourselves out.
I enjoy watching The Andy Griffith Show. They hang the jail keys right outside the cell door so Otis can let himself out when he is ready to go home. In the same way, we have the key of forgiveness to open the door, and if there’s anyone else in there with you, let them out as well.
A life of forgiveness is the best way to live.
