Psalm 100 (AMPC)
“Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all you lands!
Serve the Lord with gladness! Come before His presence with singing!
Know (perceive, recognize, and understand with approval) that the Lord is God! It is He Who has made us, not we ourselves [and we are His]! We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and a thank offering and into His courts with praise! Be thankful and say so to Him, bless and affectionately praise His name!
For the Lord is good; His mercy and loving-kindness are everlasting, His faithfulness and truth endure to all generations.”
This chapter is filled with joy and gladness, along with thanksgiving and praise. The Lord wants us to live joyful lives, serving Him with gladness, coming before Him with singing.
I’ve been trying to remember to sing to Him more often. I sing some of my old favorites along with songs I’ve spontaneously made up on my own. The first verse of this Psalm says, “Make a joyful noise…” I’m being joyful and making noise, so it fits; even if it may seem to be more noise than anything else.
Whether you are a half-full or half-empty type of person, tending toward being positive or negative, we can all work on the level of praise we have in our lives. Focusing on the good things instead of the bad can become a habit after a while.
No matter what our day looks like, if we are breathing, we have something to be thankful for. The Lord truly is good and I, for one, want to be thankful.
