We all go through times when it seems our prayers are not being answered and our faith is not working. There are various reasons for this, but one of them could be that we simply need to add patience to our faith. Most of the things we believe for don’t happen immediately, and isn’t this what faith is, continuing to believe even when we don’t yet see?
“So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you!
Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that He has promised.”
Hebrews 10:35, 36
Many times we give up too soon. If the answer doesn’t come when we think it should, some of us decide it will never happen. Too many times I hear God being blamed for seemingly unanswered prayer. Could it be our lack of patience instead?
“O Lord, I am calling to you. Please hurry!”
Psalm 141:1
Does this sound familiar? I can certainly relate to David’s words. We want it and we want it now!
If we have a promise from the Bible for our situation, and believe what it says, then we won’t give up. We cannot truly have faith without patience, or have patience without faith.
“Then Abraham waited patiently, and he received what God had promised.”
Hebrews 6:15
When we are believing for something and it has been a long time (or at least it feels like it has been a long time), we can check to see if patience could possibly be the missing ingredient. If so, as we continue to read and pray over scriptures on patience, along with scriptures that promise us what we need, we will have patience added into our lives. I believe it will make a difference.
